Matt Lenz is a New York based theatre director with a career that has spanned the globe. Literally. Matt has directed plays and musicals all over North America, in the UK, Australia, South Africa, Germany, Singapore and India – and is the director of current Broadway tours in the US, Canada and China. He has worked with many of the brightest stars and renown theatre makers on the world stage.

BROADWAY: Hairspray, Catch Me If You Can, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Velocity of Autumn (Associate Director on original productions), Disney's Beauty and the Beast (Resident Director). OFF-BROADWAY: Pageant: The Musical (Drama Desk nomination), The Irish Curse, Idaho! The Comedy Musical, The Great Daisy Theory, Fingers and Toes, and Alan Ball’s Tense Guy. US NATIONAL TOURS include: Hairspray (current North American Tour), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Sound of Music, A Christmas Story: The Musical, Cheers: Live Onstage, Catch Me If You Can and The Who’s Tommy. INTERNATIONAL: The Sound of Music  Global Tour (2022 - present),  Hairspray Australian Tour, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in Australia and productions of Hairspray in South Africa, the UK, Toronto, and Germany. REGIONAL: Many plays and musicals at Paper Mill Playhouse, the Ahmanson, the MUNY, Ogunquit Playhouse, George Street Playhouse, Cape Playhouse, North Carolina Theatre, Maltz Jupiter Theater, La Mirada, Zach Theatre, Gulfshore Playhouse, Casa Manana, Gateway Playhouse, Short North Stage and the Forestburgh Playhouse.  Matt is a member of the SDC, a long-time teaching artist for the Broadway Dreams Foundation and the Founding Artistic Director of the annual In The Works ~ In The Woods Festival of new plays and musicals in upstate New York.
